Kopy Cakes - Q & A

What is a Kopy Cake?

Our Kopy cakes are produced by printing photographs or images on flavourless frosted icing sheets using special printing equipment and edible inks. We have a variety of stock photographs to choose from that will suit all ages or you can supply your own photograph and we will reproduce it on to the edible icing sheet.

What is the image made from?

All edible icing sheets and inks are kosher. Edible icing sheets are made from the following ingredients: cornstarch, corn syrup, cellulose, corn syrup solids, water, sugar, vegetable oil, gum arabic, polysorbate 80, citric acid.

Will the edible image be just like the photo?

The inks used are edible food colours and as such they will not always print as an exact match to the original. This is particularly true of dark or bright colours. Darker images or images with a high content of black are less attractive than those with white or lighter colours. Brighter colours tend to print paler than the original. Photographs supplied in black and white will be printed in black and white. Any scratches, marks or tears on the original photograph will appear on the edible image. Images supplied on photocopy paper will be not be as sharp as the original.

Some images/photos may need to be cropped.  Click here to find out what this means.

How do I order a Kopy Cake

You can take your original photograph or image to any Cooplands shop.  Any original photos or artwork supplied to us will be returned when collecting your cake.  Please see our terms and conditions relating to customer supplied images and artwork.

What size should my photograph or image be?

The photograph or image supplied should ideally be 5” x 4” and must be no larger than 10” x 7”. Smaller photographs or images can be enlarged, but may become blurred if the original image is very small.
